Plan the actual workflow
Separate current-build parts, superseded pieces and components awaiting review. Record whether parts arrive in reusable containers, protective cases or loose fixtures. Explain how the engineering team identifies a revision before issue. Storage hardware supports this process but cannot establish that a component is approved for a build.
Compare the storage arrangement
Compare shelf and bin layouts by actual part size, not just part count. Allow a checking area for opening packaging and verifying labels. Heavy fixtures need their own handling and support assessment. Ask for flexibility only within documented configurations rather than assuming shelves can be moved to any height.
A useful brief for this project
- Revision and build status
- Protective containers and fixtures
- Checking area and release responsibility
Planning question
Can all revisions share a bin?+
Use the organization’s identification and release rules. Separate positions may help prevent confusion but do not replace those rules.
